Call me about the $8,000 tax credit
|
|
$8000 Tax Credit for First Time Homebuyers. If you have not owned a property for 3 years, you qualify as a "first time homebuyer" for this benefit. Have you been renting for more than 2 and a half years? Buy before APRIL 30, 2010 and you can take advantage of this $8000 gift from the government. Yes, that is what a tax credit is. If you buy a house and fit the criteria, when you do your taxes next year, if you owe any federal income tax, you won't have to pay it up to $8000. Are you now asking, "What if I don't owe that much tax?" Then the IRS will send you a check for the difference! $8,000 Home Buyer Tax Credit at a Glance - The tax credit is for first-time home buyers only. For the tax credit program, the IRS defines a first-time home buyer as someone who has not owned a principal residence during the three-year period prior to the purchase.
-
- The tax credit does not have to be repaid. (you must own and live in the home for at least three years)
-
- The tax credit is equal to 10 percent of the home's purchase price up to a maximum of $8,000.
-
- The credit is available for homes purchased on or after January 1, 2009 and before APRIL 30, 2010 (accepted contract).
-
- Single taxpayers with incomes up to $125,000 and married couples with incomes up to $225,000 qualify for the full tax credit.
About The Home Buying Process: The home buying process can be confusing and a little scary for first time home buyers. They generally seem to have a lot of questions but are a little hesitant to ask. Get pre-approved - the first thing you need to know is your price range. Find a real estate agent - A real estate agent is a real gem for a buyer. Your agent's commission is paid by the seller! You can have someone looking out for your best interests with no conflicts. Use the internet - Research shows that 80% of homebuyers utilize the internet in their search for a home. You can search thousands of homes across the country from the comfort of your home. Realistic expectations - Narrow your search. Decide on your top two must haves for your home search. The home search - Your agent will set up a home search tailored to your specifications. How many homes - It doesn't matter if you see one home or twenty homes, you'll know when it's the right home for you. When can I move in - The time it takes to close on a home is typically 45 days. Once you choose a home there will be inspections, surveys, and more. Your real estate agent and mortgage lender will guide you through the home buying process. They will help negotiate on your behalf and give you the information you need to make informed choices. Good people by your side will make your experience an enjoyable one. |
